Individual Portrait / Cosplay / Couples and Friends
I'm a beginner. Do you provide any tuition?
Absolutely. We will work together to ensure that you get the look you want and the poses that convey who you are and what you want to project in the photos. There are a variety of poses and techniques to practise and get comfortable with and whether you start practising before the shoot or on the day I will guide you through various styles until we are both happy we have got the look that is right for you.
What is the consultation all about?
To plan the perfect portrait portfolio for you, we work together on the shoot so I get to know you and what your expectations are. We will discuss what kind of style you are interested in, talk about your personal style, what experience you have had, what kind of clothes you usually wear, what look you want to convey, who the audience is for the photos etc. I will put together a mood board containing reference photos you like based on the feedback you give me. From the mood board we can plan your shoot, location, outfits etc. to create a stunning portfolio for you.
What happens at the shoot?
When you arrive, we will discuss all of the outfits you have brought with you. We then plan the order of outfits for the shoot and timing for each. If you are accompanied by a make up artist or friend we will also discuss the role they will play. We will discuss poses as we go and explore tips and tricks to help create your beautiful photos. We will also discuss anything that we believe may enhance the session as we go, trying new things and challenge each other to get the best results. Most of all we will have fun.
How do you select the photos for me?
As we progress through the shoot I like to provide you with the opportunity of reviewing the photos, just to see we are on track. I also get immediate feedback on how you feel about what we are taking. Once the session is over I take the photos back to the studio and I produce a proof sheet of the photos for your review and selection or I can take the guess work out of the process and choose the best and most suitable photos for editing based on my experience.
How do I book a session?

What's included in the price?
All packages include consultation prior to the shoot, travel time within the Sydney Metro area, the photography session and professionally edited photos displayed in a private online gallery and available for unlimited download via a secure link from my website. Any edits required in the future are also available as part of my ongoing service and commitment to you.
How many photos will I get?
That will depend on the package you book for and a minimum number will be agreed upfront. If its an open shoot then you can expect around 100 photos that show off most poses captured during the shoot.
Do I pay a deposit?
I do not require a deposit. and give you a number of payment options at the shoot including a pay later option.
What if I have to cancel?
I understand things happen (for me as well) and working outside we are at the mercy of the weather. In good faith we will schedule another suitable date and time.
Family Photography / Groups
Where will the family photography session take place?
The family sessions are shot at any time during the day to suit your schedule. I understand how busy family life can be so I will fit in with you, but early morning or afternoon light will produce the best outdoor results. You may have a favourite location nearby to where you live or I can suggest a location within Sydney that suits. There are lots of great locations to choose from around the Sydney area or, if you prefer your own backyard, I can come to you
What do we wear?
You can wear whatever you want. Smart casual always looks great, and you will feel comfortable and relaxed although you can choose a special outfit or theme if you prefer. It’s also nice if everyone wears complimentary colours. Try to avoid big logos or patterns that clash as they will be a distraction. I can discuss this with you as part of the initial consultation.
How many people can be in a session?
The price is based on a family of 5. For larger groups the shoot time may have to be extended or the number of individual photos adjusted. Larger groups can of course be accomodated but we may have to discuss the finer details to make sure you get what you need.
Can we bring our pets?
Of course, the more the merrier - but remember it may be a bit more challenging!
How long will our session be?
The package allows up to 60 minutes but this can be changed based on your circumstances. Depending on the extent of the change there may be price alteration but generally there will be some flexibility.
How many photos will we get?
There will be around 50 professionally edited colour photos but this will vary depending on how the shoot goes and whether there are any specific requirements for certain family members. I will also include select or the entire portfolio as black and whites for no additional charge.
What's included in the price?
Included in the price is the initial consultation, travel within the Sydney metro area, 60 min photography session, professional editing and online gallery. All the photos are yours to download, print, share and use however you wish. Additional services such as wall prints, acrylic blocks, canvas prints and photo books can be arranged for an additional cost.

COPYRIGHT
All images shall remain the property of the Photographer unless agreed to in writing by Mikey Lane Photography Pty Ltd.
MODEL RELEASE
A model release may be requested by Mikey Lane Photography Pty Ltd in instances where the photographs may be used by Mikey Lane Photography Pty Ltd or for the purposes of stock photography, magazine submissions or for any other purpose reasonably required by Mikey Lane Photography Pty Ltd. The Client is under no obligation to provide such a release.
SOCIAL MEDIA CREDIT
For all images used on social media by the Client, it would be appreciated if a photographer credit is provided by tagging or a mention in comments on social media platforms. Instagram: @mikeylaneportraits
RATES & PAYMENT
Rates are outlined in the various packages. For general standard rates outside package rates, one hour charge (or part thereof) is $150 and a day rate (taken as 8 hours) is $1000
In some circumstances a deposit of 50% may be requested before the day of the shoot. Full payment for the shoot or for the balance is required before delivery, unless otherwise agreed to in writing by the Photographer. Credit Card payments incur a 2.5% surcharge. All prices, quotes & estimates provided are in AUD (Australian currency) and include GST (10% Goods and Services Tax).
CANCELLATION, POSTPONEMENTS
In the event of a permanent cancellation of a shoot by the Client, the Client shall pay all expenses incurred by Mikey Lane Photography Pty Ltd up to the time of cancellation. This does not include time spent on consultations. Deposit/Booking fees, if charged, are non-refundable or transferable.
In the event the shoot is cancelled by Mikey Lane Photography, the Client will have the option of rescheduling the shoot at no additional cost or receiving a full refund of any monies paid.
TRAVEL EXPENSES
Travel rate is charged at $50 per hour or part thereof or a fixed km rate, whichever is the cheaper, unless otherwise agreed to in writing by Mikey Lane Photography Pty Ltd. Travel rate applies outside of the Sydney Metropolitan Area, Interstate and Overseas.
All costs incurred including but not limited to kilometres (charged at $0.75c per/km), parking costs, flights, transfers, car hire, taxi, hotel and meal allowance are payable by the Client.
POST PRODUCTION
Image retouching requiring special applications, including photoshop or AI tools to change or add to the image, beyond the editing initially provided, will be quoted as per image or per hour rate depending on the project. This is additional to the editing included within the photography session, hourly, half-day or full day rates. All photograph edits and retouching will result in Hi-Res images in JPEG format unless agreed otherwise before the shoot.
DELIVERY PROCESS AND TIME
The photos will be delivered to the client in JPEG format, unless agreed otherwise prior to the shoot, via digital download. All reasonable effort will be made to have edited photos available within 7 days of the shoot. If photos are required urgently it may incur a priority turnaround fee. Where delivery by some other means is required, and incurs additional costs to Mikey Lane Photography Pty Ltd, the client agrees to pay those costs.
STORAGE
All edited photos are backed up by Mikey Lane Photography Pty Ltd. and will be made available upon request should the client lose the photos provided to them from the shoot. All reasonable steps will be taken to protect the edited copies. Mikey Lane Photography Pty Ltd does not warrant that edited photos will always be available and the client releases the Photographer from all liability relating to the loss or destruction of images where the circumstances are beyond the control of Mikey Lane Photography Pty Ltd.
